Eric Van den Eynde returns to the Canadian Cycling Association as national coach for paracycling

The FQSC is proud to announce the appointment of Eric Van den Eynde coach of Team Quebec road, track and paracycling, as national coach in paracycling. He will leave his post at the FQSC on 1 May 1st for the position with the Canadian Cycling Association.

"We are having mixed feelings about the departure of Eric. Obviously, we would have wished him to remain at the FQSC, because of what he has done with athletes from Quebec, but we are also very proud Eric has received an offer from the CCA, in consideration of the results obtained by the paracycling Quebec in recent years, including the Paralympic Games in Beijing in 2008, "said André Michaud, president of the FQSC. The two medals won by Canada at the Games were the athletes trained by Eric Van den Eynde.
 
"I want to thank the FQSC for allowing me to reconnect with the Quebec team in the past two years, after ten years of absence as a track coach. The FQSC has developed over the years in the identification programs and development have enabled the emergence of several talents nationally and internationally. I was privileged to contribute to the emergence of these athletes wishing to achieve greater heights athletic "to indicate Eric Van den Eynde. "As national coach in paracycling, I will have the chance for a new challenge to enable cyclists Canadian figure among the world elite."

Eric Van den Eynde will be based in Quebec, in his new duties. Since the transfer of governance of paracycling International Paralympic Committee to the International Cycling Union in 2007, the international calendar in paracycling has expanded greatly. The athletes now have the World Championships on road and track every year, except for the Paralympic years, and in 2010, a World Cup on road and track should be added to the international calendar.

La FQSC est fière d’annoncer la nomination d‘Eric Van den Eynde entraîneur de l’équipe du Québec route, piste et paracyclisme, à titre d’entraîneur national en paracyclisme. Ce dernier quittera ses fonctions à la FQSC le 1er mai prochain pour occuper ses nouvelles fonctions avec l’Association cycliste canadienne.
 
« Nous éprouvons des sentiments mixtes quant au départ d’Eric. Évidemment, nous aurions souhaité qu’il demeure à la FQSC, en raison de ce qu’il a accompli avec les athlètes du Québec, mais nous sommes également très fiers et peu surpris qu’Eric ait reçu une offre de l’ACC, si considère les résultats obtenus par le paracyclistes québécois lors des dernières années, incluant les Jeux paralympiques de Pékin en 2008 », de mentionner André Michaud, président de la FQSC. Rappelons que les deux médailles remportées par le Canada lors de ces Jeux l’ont été par des athlètes entraînés par Eric Van den Eynde.
 
« Je tiens à remercier la FQSC de m’avoir permis de renouer avec l’équipe du Québec au cours des deux dernières années, après dix ans d’absence comme entraîneur national sur piste. La FQSC a mis en place au fil des années des programmes de détection et de développement qui ont permis l’émergence de plusieurs beaux talents aux niveaux national et international. J’ai donc été privilégié de contribuer à l’éclosion de ces athlètes désireux d’atteindre de plus hauts sommets athlétiques » d’indiquer Eric Van den Eynde. « Comme entraîneur national en paracyclisme, j’aurai la chance de relever un nouveau défi afin de permettre aux cyclistes canadiens de figurer parmi l’élite mondiale ».
 
Eric Van den Eynde sera basé au Québec dans l’exercice de ses nouvelles fonctions. Depuis le transfert de la gouvernance du paracyclisme du Comité international paralympique à l’Union cycliste internationale en 2007, le calendrier international en paracyclisme a pris beaucoup d’ampleur. Les athlètes ont désormais des Championnats du monde sur route et sur piste à tous les ans, exception faite de l’année paralympique, et à compter de 2010, une Coupe du monde sur route et sur piste devrait s’ajouter au calendrier international.
