Para-cyclists Brian Cowie and Devon Smibert won Gold on the third day of the BT Paralympic World Cup, held in Manchester, Great Britain.

The tandem won the 4km Pursuit by nearly 2 seconds, over the Netherlands, with Ireland finishing third. In that same event, Brayden McDougall posted a personal best, breaking his Paralympics Games result by 2 seconds. As for Jean Quévillon, he missed his personal best time, also posted at last year’s Paralympics Games, by only a few tenths of a second.

Following the World Cup, the team competed at the Wales Grand Prix and showed great improvements. Posting personal best times in the kilo were Jean Quévillon and Brayden McDougall. Éric Bourgault posted a second best time and came back with valuable experience on the track.

The Canadian para-cyclists are now looking forward to the national team training camp, being held in Bromont, QC, from June 7-14.
