Report by Dominique Perras

The 103km morning stage again produced aggressive racing at its best, when halfway into the race a group of 10 assembled at the front and gained over a minute on the main field. The main GC threat in this move was Canadian Ryan Anderson, who had started the day with a deficit of just over a minute and a half and clearly was the main horsepower of the group. “I believed in the move for a while, in particular because I had teammate Jean-Michel Lachance in it, and I gave it all I had but there were too many tired guys and the Slovenian's reacted efficiently back in the pack”.  Anderson paid for his efforts in the last kilometre and lost valuable seconds.

The group finally solidified in the last kilometres. On the last uphill with less than 2km to go, Henao jumped hard and took the win with a 5 second gap. The best American was Ben King in 11th at 9 seconds while best Canadian was David Boily in 16th position 18 seconds back.
