MBS Cup - A new leader with a week to go!
With only a week remaining in the 18 week long Mike's Bike Shop Series, we have a new leader in Neil Symington of Sussex. Even more interesting, Any one of four young riders could still claim the overall classification. The organizers of the event could not be happier that those four riders are all products of the local Pepsi Cup as well as participants in the Peter Wedge Program.
The course has been made even more technical then the previous week; and although the weather was nice, the rain of the previous days made the course quite soft. Last night's event was taken by Bill Goobie, with the podium completed by Julien Roussel and Michelle Chase. Jean-Richard Cormier, with an exceptional performancehe is known for, totally dominated the event, but he was relegated to 4th place after the handicapping formula were applied.
Symington, with 1050 points, took the lead last night by finishing 6th in a very hard cyclo-cross race. He is now followed closely by Justin Mallet (1030 points) and Julien Roussel (990 points). Marc Evers could also mathematically steal the show in next week's final event as he now holds 850 points.
