The organizers of the Giro d'Italia today released the route for next year's race, which will start outside of Italy in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The 2010 edition has six mountain stages and four time trials - including a team time trial - which makes it a vastly different race from the previously announced Tour de France. After the first three stages in and around Amsterdam, the Giro has an early Rest Day for the transition to Italy. In total, the 2010 Giro will cover 3416.5 kilometres over 21 stages between May 8th and 30th.
