October 25/09 11:45 am - Winter Training Sessions at the Forest City Velodrome

London's Forest City Velodrome is starting an innovative new training session for the winter months. The sessions are scheduled for Friday nights beginning, November 13th and will run through to the end of March.

They are aimed at riders wanting to train at mid-intensity over longer distances, and at those looking to put in quality "base miles" for next year's racing season. Training will take the form of team pursuits and pursuit drills, with occasional motor pacing. Part of the fun will be learning to use the track banking and ride in tight formation.

In announcing these sessions, the FCV's Lorne Falkenstein said, "We are hoping these sessions will fill a gap between the needs of those people wanting to come out and ride at a relaxed pace for fun and fitness and those wanting to do some serious training at higher speeds -- but without necessarily having to do a lot of short, intense intervals”.

There will be a skills component and a challenge component that will make the sessions a lot more interesting than riding the trainer and a lot more congenial than going out on the road in the dark, cold, ice and snow!

These winter training sessions will start at 7:30pm Friday November 13th.  The only pre-requisite is that you must have completed Track 1 & 2.  These sessions will be drop-in so no pre-registration will be required.
