It took 18 races and 5 bikes, but we now have a winner of the 2009 Mike's Bike Shop Cup. This year's podium was marked by one word as it was swept by 3 Peter Wedge Program riders: Youth.

Sussex's Neil Symington, with 1095 points, took the top prize, but it was only after a long battle with his close friends, Justin Mallet and Julien Roussel of Dieppe. The race was such a close one, the two were actually tied with 1045 points, but Mallet's win a few weeks ago made the difference. The top three were followed closely by another Peter Wedge rider, Marc Evers (935 points), while Mike LeBlanc, the first of the "original" Mike's Bike Shop club riders, completed the top 5 with 760 points.

The Mike's Bike Shop Cup has a unique format in two ways: it amalgamates 6 cycling disciplines (cross country, time trial, track, BMX, criterium, and cyclo-cross) and ranks the riders according to a handicap system. So the winner at the end of the season is a complete cyclist. The events take place on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer and the atmosphere is nothing but fun.

Tuesday night's final event was taken by Moncton's Krista Koval. She was followed on the line by Luc Arseneau and T.J. Worden-Rogers. For the last evening, the course was shortened, but did not lack in obstacles and fun sections. With Halloween just around the corner, an extra 10 points were awarded to everyone showing up in costume.
