Posted by Editoress on 11/11/09

The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) has released statistics for its doping control activities in the July - September, and Cycling was the second most tested sport during the period.  Athletics was the most tested, with a total of 80 tests (29 In Competition / 51 Out Of Competition), followed by Cycling at 63 tests (35 / 28).  Swimming was third at 44 (21 / 23).  599 domestic tests were conducted, plus an additional 137 for various Federations on a Fee-for-Service basis.

There were two anti-doping violations reported in the quarter, both for Cannabis, with the athletes receiving a reprimand (CIS Football and Judo).  In the current sanctions registry, the only cycling individuals named are Geneviève Jeanson and her former coach André Aubut and doctor Maurice Duquette.  Aubut and Duquette received lifetime bans, with Jeanson eligible to compete as of September 20, 2017.
