Road Nationals Update

We have spoken with the organizers, who asked us to pass on two items:

1. Registration is

CLOSED

. You had nearly 8 weeks people, and if you didn't manage to get your entry in by yesterday, too bad. Come down and watch. They (and the CCA) are taking a hard line on this one, so don't bother telephoning the community centre, they will just say no. (By the way, the argument that the site was down is a non-starter. It was down for 28 minutes, and we responded by extending the registration deadline by 1 hour...)

2. Package pickup is open tonight and tomorrow evening (for Friday/Saturday races) from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Unless special arrangements have been made previously, there is no package pickup at the race.

August 6th, 2002

We had 32 riders come out on this cool evening, including JASON PICARD who is recovering from a broken back sustained in a bike crash and H.C.C. member PETER MORRIS who is recovering from a broken clavicle also sustained in a bike crash. Really nice to see you both out again! Early in tonight's ride, JEFF HANSEN, PAUL HORNAK and JEFF SHARAFBAYANI broke away and maintained an amazing pace, being over one minute ahead at 17 laps to go and eventually lapping the entire field! What an exciting ride to watch! The finishing order was: JEFF SHARAFBAYANI, JEFF HANSEN, PAUL HORNAK, PIERS DAVIDGE and H.C.C.'s ROBERT BREHN. Way to go guys!

Only two more rides to go, then on the 27th we're planning an awards presentation, draw prizes and pizza on the line. Hope to see you all there!

Overall Standings

1st Piers Davidge 49 points
2nd Paul Hornak 36 points
3rd Jeff Sharafbayani 35 points
4th Jay MacLaren 31 points
5th Mirek Mazur 30 points
