December 17/09 9:59 am - Armstrong Second in Athlete of the Decade Voting

Posted by Editor on 12/17/09

Associated Press has announced their Athlete of the Decade, which is the much embattled golfer Tiger Woods, followed by cyclist Lance Armstrong. Tennis player Roger Federer finished third. Woods received 56 of 142 ballots cast by AP writers, Armstrong 33 and Federer 25. Swimmer Michael Phelps came in fourth with 13 votes, followed by NFL quarterback Tom Brady (6) and sprinter Usain Bolt (4). Five other athletes received one vote apiece.

One interesting comment by AP writer John Leicester concerning the selection of Woods over Armstrong can be found Here.

Our Canadian Cyclist of the Decade voting continues until December 20th, along with balloting for top Male, Female and Individual Performances for 2009. You can cast your vote Here
