Webcor Builders Women’s Professional Cycling Team today (January 1st) announced its 2010 official roster, headlined by three Olympians and Geelong World Cup winner Katheryn Curi Mattis.
Olympians Gina Grain and Erinne Willock, Webcor teammates in 2009, will be joined by Alex Wrubleski, another 2008 Olympian who is rejoining Webcor after a year's absence. Mattis is returning for her sixth year on the Webcor squad.
Adding strong European experience to the 2010 roster is Austrian Andrea Gauss, a consistent top eight World Cup finisher and former national champion. Also joining Webcor are three rising young talents – Joelle Numainville, Pan American Champion in 2009, Ally Stacher and Lindsay Myers.
Webcor is the longest-established women's professional cycling team in North America. Outstanding Webcor performances in 2009 included the overall win at the Cascade Cycling Classic and Willock's seventh-place finish in the 2009 World Championship road race.
Team Manager Karen Brems said the Webcor squad aims to lead the North American stage and road racing scene in 2010, as it builds towards medal capability at the 2012 London Olympics. "I am really excited about the team we have assembled for 2010. We have a good balance of very experienced riders and some new talents to keep everyone fresh. We have a good international mix of riders with strong European results and dedicated team work ethic," said Brems, who is returning for her seventh year at the Webcor helm.
The Webcor Builders Women's team is generously supported by Webcor Builders, the largest general contractor in California and the eighth largest concrete contractor in the U.S. Webcor CEO, Andy Ball states "As a company, the key to our approach is the quality of the people on our team, and this is exemplified by the Webcor cycling team as well."
