February 3/10 14:30 pm - Winter Cyclo-Cross Championships

The National Cycling Centre - Atlantic Canada, in partnership with the Dieppe Friendship Carnival, is happy to present the 4th edition on the Winter Cyclo-Cross Championships. This totally fun event, is run under a cyclo-cross format, but on a course covered with snow!

The initial objective for this event was to get the cyclists outdoors in the middle of the basement trainer and stationary bike season and beat to winter blues! With the help of the City of Dieppe and the St-Anselme Park staff the event has grown in size and quality.

"Last year, we beat all the odds, no one thought we'd be able to create a cycling course through the enormous amounts of snow we had, and it was by far the best year;" said the Centre's head coach and course designer, Luc Arseneau. "Less then a week ago, it looked like the event would be held on green grass, but Mother Nature decided to dump on us a sudden 30 cm of fressh snow! Some thought this was the end of our 2010 event, but the heavy artillery was brought out by the city staff, and at this moment, I can tell you it's the best course we've ever had!"

So all cyclists, competitive or not, are invited to beat the winter blues once again, and come participate at the most fun event of the year! Every participant becomes a Champion! Although run under a cross format, mountain bikes are more then welcome.

The Winter Cyclo-Cross Championships will take place on Saturday, February 6th; at 3:00 pm. Registration will take place at the Cycling Centre from 1 pm.
