Killington, VT, (September 1, 1999)ËœBrandon Gap is the place to be this Saturday September, 4, as cyclists in the 13th Annual Killington Stage Race wind their way up the steep mountain road. Genevieve Jeanson, of Lachine, Quebec is the rider to watch on the hills this year. Jeanson holds the current women's record for the Mt. Washington Auto Road Bicycle Hill Climb. She completed the 8-mile climb in one hour, one minute and 57 seconds, beating the 1997 record by almost 8 minutes. Jeanson is the Canadian Jr. National Champion. Her other recent accomplishments include a second place overall finish at The Fitchburg-Longsjo Classic Stage Race, and a first place finish at the Howard Bank Criterium in Burlington, VT.
At Killington, 17-year old Jeanson will be riding with the Women's I-II field. She will be joined by U.S. Jr. National Champion Sarah Url. The two junior cyclists will be competing with women pro's including Timex Women's Team members Pam Schuster, Kendra Wenzel, Odessa Gunn, and Giana Roberge; Saturn team members Lyne Bessette, Emily Robbins, Tana Stone, Nicole Reinhart, Susy Pryde and Julie Hanson as well as Australian champion Kathy Watt.
