OBB Wheelers Midweek 15km Individual TT for July 8th, on Nanaimo River Road in Nanaimo BC

Hottest day of the year! Good job it was cooler up at the start. The warmth and humidity resulted in a really fast night and no less than 7 riders beat their personal best for the distance. In the women's event, the battle for first resulted in Janna Gillick winning by just 35 seconds. The next three finishers were only 10 seconds apart with Julie Langelo just edging out Cheryl Morch and Rose Houle for third place.

In the men's contest Don Gillmore won, as usual, but with a somewhat slower time. He's been doing some construction work on his house, resulting in very sore muscles. His 20':56 time was still over two minutes clear of Dave Steen's 23:59. Some say that the dead deer on the course collapsed and died as a result of trying to catch Don!

Riders rarely get flats on this course as the surface is excellent and clean. However, the very hot weather resulted in a large number of vehicles parking near the lakes that border the course and spraying gravel on the road. This caused Gary Vermette and Patrick Burnham to get punctures.
