Canadians in Stars & Stripes

Two Canadians are sporting new Stars & Stripes jerseys of US National Champions. Stephannie Hannos and Mark Ernsting, both of Vancouver, competed for Midwestern State University of Wichita Falls, Texas in the US Collegiate National Track Championships this past weekend at the Olympic Velodrome on the campus of Cal State Dominguez Hills (LA).

On day one, Hannos finished second in the 2000m pursuit (2:43) to Megan Troxell (Stanford; 2:33) but Hannos recovered to take the National Champion title in the points race on the second day.Together, Hannos and Troxell took a lap on the field and Hannos won by a margin of 32 points to Troxell's 21. Ernsting was declared National Champion in the 3000m pursuit with a winning time of 3:40 and a two second margin over second place Chris Cooper of Marian College, Indianapolis.
