Albert Coulier Schelstraete had a chance to backpedal this past weekend.
The 91-year-old Tillsonburg resident is a walking encyclopedia of local cycling history. Much of Delhi's rich cycling past actually arose out of his determination and passion for the sport.
Coulier Schelstraete was not only well-known on the cycling circuit but is lauded for constructing Delhi's outdoor velodrome on Brantford Road.
He later honed his craft by designing the World Championship track at University of Montreal and the velodrome at the Montreal Olympic site.
Coulier Schelstraete literally had the chance to toot his own horn at the opening of the Backpedalling exhibit.
