Our coverage of the 2010 World Cup Final brought to you with the support of Shimano

A beautiful sunny day that is growing hotter by the minute.  67 women will be on the startline.  This is the final event of the 2010 World Cup and the last race before the World Championships in Mont-Ste-Anne next week.

The start was originally set for the centre of Windham itself, a short 300 metre straight before entering the actual course, but was moved back onto the course itself.  They will do 5 laps.

Emily Batty is a DNS

5 min to start

Lap 1

The women are off and are starting to climb.  Marie-Helene Premont (Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain) is at the front and has established a gap.  A steady line of riders behind her.

11:25 am

Halfway around Premont is still leading

11:32 am

On the descent heading to the end of the first lap, it looks like Catharine Pendrel (Luna Pro Team) leading Marie-Helene Premont (Team Maxxis-Rocky Mountain)  and then Georgia Gould (Luna Pro Team)  in 3rd

Lap 2

as they head out onto the 2nd lap, Penrel leading prmong by 12 sec.  Gould 3rd at 13 sec, Willow Koerber (Subaru-Trek) 4th at 30 sec, Cécile Ravanel (Lapierre International) 5th 48 sec

Amanda Sin ( 3Rox Racing)   27th, Catherine Vipond (Norco Factory) 39th, Mical Dyck (Trek Canada)  45th

In the first feed zone/pit:  Pendrel leading Premont with Gould on her wheel and and Koerber chasing.

Mical Dyck came into the pit running with a mechanical and has lost a number of places.

Emily Batty decided not to start to better prepare for Worlds.

At the halfway point - no change

11:50  on the descent

Pendrel still leading, Premont alone in 2nd , then Gould also alone.  Koerber is 4th but now well back

Lap 3

Starting the 3rd lap, Pendrel leading Premont by 22 sec.  Gould 3rd at 31 sec, Koerber 4th at 58 sec, Mary McConneloug (Kenda/Seven/NoTubes) 5th at 1:26 and Blaza Klemencic (Felt Oetztal X-Bionic Team) at s.t.

Katherine Compton (PlanetBike) 12th, Heather Irmiger (Subaru-Trek) 18th, Amanda Sin ( 3Rox Racing)  23rd,

12pm

At the top of the first small climb ~ 2 km in - Pendrel has 25 sec on Premont.  Gould at 40 sec. Koerber at 1:05

Riders seem to be having a lot of mechanicals - flats mostly

12:08 pm

Klemencic has caught and passed Koerber and McConneloug is now working on the same move.  Koerber and Eva Lechner (Colnago Arreghini Sudtirol) were the only 2 riders with a chance to challenge Pendrel for the World Cup lead, but Lechner is well back (10th) and now with Koerber going backward........

12:12 pm

On the descent and the gap between Pendrel and Premont is holding about 25 seconds.

Lap 4

Three laps now completed and the time is 59:27

Starting Pendrel with Premont at 29 sec.  Gould holding onto 3rd at 54 sec back. Koerber back into 4th at 1:43,  Klemencic at 1:56, McConneloug at 2:11, Elisabeth Osl (Central Pro Team) 7th at 2:23, Ravanel 8th at s.t., Compton 9th at 2:29 , Marielle Saner-Guinchard (Bikepark.Ch Scott) 10th at 2:33

12:20 pm

Pendrel still leading with  Premont 2nd.  Gould comfortable in 3rd.  Koerber has been caught by  Klemencic, with Mary Mcconneloug and Compton right behind her, but it is Compton coming on strong.  So it is going to be a battle for 4th

Last lap

As they head out onto the final lap, Pendrel leading with Premont at 24 sec.  Gould 3rd at 1:23 back.  Klemencic 4th an Koerber 5th

12:40 pm

Koerber's 5th is being challenged by Osl.  A group at another 45 back: Compton, Esther Süss, McConneloug, Leumann, Rosara Joseph are all together battling it out for a top 10 spot.

12:46 am

Premont has just caught and passed Pendrel.  They are now riding together.

12:50 pm

Gould 3rd, Klemencic 4th, Osl 5th,

12:52 pm

On the descent and Pendrel has a gap on Premont

12:54

On the flats now and the gap from Pendrel to Premont is 5+ sec
