September 22/10 11:23 am - Commonwealth Games Velodrome Linked to Collapsed Pedestrian Bridge & Dengue Fever

The Australian newspaper is reporting that the same Indian construction company (P&R Infraprojects) that is now under investigation for the collapse of a pedestrian bridge at the Commonwealth Games main stadium was also involved in the construction of the steel fabrication of the Indira Gandhi velodrome and the main wrestling stadium, which had a false ceiling collapse yesterday.

As local organizers and advance parties of Commonwealth countries such as Canada feverishly work to bring athlete residences up to standard, a myriad of other problems are surfacing, and some countries are beginning to talk publically about pulling out; specifically New Zealand, Scotland and Guernsey.

In another story from The Australian, two members of the host nation track cycling squad have become ill with Dengue fever while training at the facility, and are in hospital. The Australian-born coach says that at any time, as much as 10% of the squad is off sick.
