“Blazing Saddle Sores Descend On Sylvan Lake!”

Adventure cyclist Ryan Correy will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for continuous indoor spinning, starting Monday, October 4th at 8:00am. This history-making event will take place at Best Body Fitness in Sylvan Lake, Alberta.

The current record is 200 hours (8 days, 8 hours). The rules to break the record are simple – Ryan must travel at least 20 virtual km/hour, and is only allowed 5 minutes off the bike for every completed hour on. This time can be saved for longer breaks.

In accordance with Guinness World Record rules, two independent witnesses will be on at all times, rotating in four hour shifts. There will also be a 24-hour live camera feed online.

We encourage all interested media to attend the event kick-off on October 4th. Ryan and Scott McDermott (owner of Best Body Fitness) will be available for interviews, starting at 6:30am. Once the attempt begins, please coordinate all on-bike interviews with Scott.

Consider riding alongside Ryan for a bit, talk with the witnesses, see how the support crew operates – gain an inside perspective to share with your audience!

Ryan is scheduled to break the current record on Tuesday, October 12th at 4:01pm

About Ryan Correy (in his own words)…

“Ever since my father introduced me to the freedom of the open road at age 13, it has been my dream to turn my passion on two wheels into my purpose in life.

In 2008, I became the youngest Canadian to ever finish the Race Across America – once considered the toughest sporting event in the world by Outside magazine. Previously, I cycled 25,000 km from Alaska to Argentina, and rode 14,000 km around North America for charity. The list goes on.

The further I ride, the more I learn about the world. The greater the challenge, the more I learn about myself. And the more that I interact with those around me, the more clearly I see my purpose evolving.

Whether or not I am a successful in achieving the goals that I have set forth, I can only hope that one day my actions will inspire others as my role models have inspired me.”
