October 1/99 4:34 am - Trivia Winners, Biker Banquet

And The Winner Is...
Steve Lund of Victoria, B.C. was the first person to send in the correct answer, approximately 20 minutes ahead of Emil van Dijk of Owen Sound, Ontario. Both of them knew that Cindy Devine was the Downhill World Champion in the first World Championships in Durango, Colorado, in 1990. Another Canadian, Elladee Brown, took the DH silver. The most common wrong answer was Alison Sydor with her silver at Bromont in 1992. So, a copy of the 1998 MTB Worlds video is winging its way to Steve. To all of those who wrote heart rending stories about why you should win (have you no shame...), don‚t worry, we have a bunch of copies to give out. Tomorrow we will put up another trivia question, and give away another copy. Check back at around11:00 am EDT for the next chance to win.
The first five tire testers should be receiving an e-mail right about now, informing them that Specialized Canada will be in contact shortly to set them up on some new tires. For those of you who didn‚t get in the this time, don‚t despair - Specialized may be coming back to us for more testers soon...

It is official, Canadian legend Pierre Harvey will be our guest speaker November 6 at the Bikers Banquet at Camp Fortune. Pierre has competed internationaly since the mid 70's as a cyclist, XC skier, triathlete, and mountain biker (probably a few others too, I seem to remember him having been a champion swimmer too.)
Pierre competed in both the winter and summer games in 1984 and became the first XC skier to win a World Cup event. (more than once).
Now a father of 3 kids and an engineer with Pro Cycle, Pierre remains in sport as athlete, organizer and spokesperson. It will be an honour to have Pierre attend the dinner.
See you there.
Tickets are $35 and will be available soon.
