October 1/10 21:55 pm - UCI News: Fullana and Other Riders Suspended

Posted by Editoress on 10/1/10

The UCI advised Spanish rider Margarita Fullana that she is provisionally suspended. The decision to provisionally suspend this rider was made in response to a report from the WADA accredited laboratory in Montreal indicating an Adverse Analytical Finding of EPO in a urine sample collected from her in an out of competition test on 30 August 2010.

The provisional suspension of Ms Fullana remains in force until a hearing panel convened by the Spanish Cycling Federation determines whether she has committed an anti-doping rule violation under Article 21 of the UCI Anti-Doping Rules.

Ms Fullana has the right to request and attend the analysis of her B sample.
Under the World Anti-Doping Code and the UCI Anti-Doping Rules, the UCI is unable to provide any additional information at this time.

In addition, the UCI announces that following its request to open proceedings against the riders listed below, the relevant national organisations have delivered the following sanctions (suspensions and/or fines):

The Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC) punished Mr Eladio Jimenez Sanchez, with a two-year suspension and a € 8’400 fine.

The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) punished Mr Massimo Giunti with a two-year suspension and a € 1’750 fine.
The Monaco Cycling Federation (FMC) has decided to sanction Mr Davide Rebellin by a two-year suspension starting on 28th April 2009.
