North American Cyclocross Trophy Series Moves Season Finale
Venue Issue Moves Final Races to Bay State Cyclocross

Faced with the loss of the venue for the final race weekend of the North American Cyclocross Trophy (NACT) Series the directors have selected Bay State Cyclocross as a replacement.  The annual Sterling Mass weekend of racing scheduled for November 27-28 will serve as the 4th and final weekend of NACT action that will decide overall series winners in both Women’s and Men’s categories.

As it has for the past 2 seasons the NACT finale weekend was originally scheduled to take place in Southampton NY.  However the venue for the Whitmore’s Landscape Super Cross Cup faced an unexpected complication from an outdoor construction project.

Rather than cut short the 2010 season the series directors selected Bay State Cyclocross to take over.  Series Director Brook Watts described the change, “It’s a natural fit for NACT. Race director Tom Stevens has a reputation for some of the best courses nationwide, the race attracts the cream of the cross field and the timing fits nicely with the season schedule.”

The NACT is at the season mid-point, with racing taking place in Colorado this weekend starting with the Colorado Cross Classic presented by Webroot on Saturday and the Victory Circle Graphix Boulder Cup on Sunday.  On the women’s side Wendy Simms (Front Runners-Ridley) is the overall NACT series leader after four races.  For the men the picture is less clear with Francis Mourey back in Europe after dominating the NACT opening weekend in September.  Tied for 2nd are teammates Tim Johnson and Jeremy Powers (both Cannondale p/b cyclocrossworld.com) but expect to see a new holder of the Castelli leader’s jersey by the end of the weekend.

Created in 2008, the NACT series is comprised of “the classic cyclocross races” across North America showcasing the best ‘cross courses and attracting internationally ranked competitors. The overall series winnings combined with daily prizes make it the richest cyclocross series in North America.
