November 23/10 16:23 pm - Free Physiological Testing at UBC

Posted by Editoress on 11/23/10

Highly endurance trained male cyclists are needed for a research study that is examining the effects of cold on cardiovascular function. The study is being conducted by researchers at the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University. Tests are a Dexa body composition scan (gold standard for body composition), VO2max, and resting cardiovascular measures including cardiovascular ultrasound.

From the VO2max test threshold-based heart rate training zones will be provided to you. In addition, volunteers will receive a full Dexa report outlining muscle mass, fat mass and bone density for all regions of the body and will identify any asymmetry in your muscle mass. The cold test will involve resting for one hour in the cold while your heart is scanned pre and post cold exposure in addition to the monitoring of body temperature.

For more information and to determine your eligibility, please contact Anita Cote at (604) 803-4797 or acote.ubc@gmail.com
