November 30/10 8:56 am - Christian Meier to Race Saputo Burnaby 4 Day

The Saputo Burnaby Four Day is now just under a month away and the winner of the 2005 inaugural Burnaby Six Day, Garmin-Transitions ProTour rider Christian Meier, will be racing the event. Due to personal reasons, double World Champion Taylor Phinney will be unable to attend, but now Meier will pair with his current Garmin Transitions team mate Tyler Farrar to make a formidable duo.

While known mainly as a road racer, Meier is no stranger to the track; winning National titles in 2007 in both Team Pursuit and Madison, and representing Symmetrics at the World Cup in Los Angeles in these same events. Meier commented "I am super pumped to be racing in my adopted home town with one of the fastest sprinters in the world as a partner. Both Tyler (Farrar) and I have done this race a few times before, but never as a team, and it is great to see how the event has grown from a local level event to something that is world class."

Tickets for the event will be sold at the door and selected cycling shops. A one night session is $5 and a four day pass is $15. If you want to purchase in advance, a limited number of tickets are now available at Local Ride  in Maple Ridge, Mighty Riders and La Bicicletta in Vancouver. More sales points may be introduced on the website www.burnaby4.com .  Tickets would make a great stocking stuffer.

Registration for the lower category events is now open on www.karelo.com , with fields limited to track maximum of 20 riders in A, B, C, and Junior Men. There is an opportunity for Category 1 track racers to enter the Elite Men's and Women's Omnium on December 30th as well.
