On Friday, Steve Bauer and Josée Laroque, partners at Cycle Sport Management, received word that their application for a Professional Continental team licence - the second highest level in the world of road cycling - had been approved by the UCI. This is a first for a Canadian team.

The riders and staff of the SpiderTech powered by C10 were holding their first team meeting at the time in St Catharines at the team headquarters and, after a celebratory dinner on Friday, the team got down to the work of preparing for the 2011 season.

Canadian Cyclist was given the opportunity to visit the team at their headquarters as new team members and returning ones met and were sized for their equipment. We also had the chance to interview both Steve and members of the team about the move to the Pro Continental ranks, and what the team hopes to achieve in the coming season.

Over the next coule of days, we will be bringing you photos and interviews with some of the riders but, to start with, an interview with Steve Bauer, Directeur Sportif of SpiderTech powered by C10.
