We are very pleased to be able to announce that Sarah Moore, our intern at the 2010 Mountain Bike Worlds in Mont Ste Anne, has won the Rogers Sportsnet scholarship for Communications and Journalism at Concordia University.

"The scholarship is a $3500 prize from Rogers Sportsnet," explains Sarah.  "They give out one to a Communications student and one to a Journalism student at Concordia every year. I had a higher chance of winning since I'm one of the few people studying in both programs! The student has to be interested in pursuing a career in Sports Journalism or Sports Broadcasting and have a GPA of 3.30 or higher."

"It's nice to know that being committed to both cycling and school has its rewards. Sometimes I wonder whether it's worth compromising school for cycling and cycling for school but I can't imagine missing out on one experience or the other."

"I think that because of my internship with Canadian Cyclist, my recommendation from my ski coach at Green Mountain Valley School and my general committment to academics, I was chosen. There aren't very many people in Communications at Concordia who try to juggle sports with all of the projects we do and papers we write!"

"I want to be involved with sports for the rest of my life and I would like to be able to work with athletes using the skills I'm learning in Communications and Journalism."

Congratulations Sarah!
