March 1/11 12:27 pm - Updated Canadian Anti-Doping Rules Now in Effect

Posted by Editoress on 03/1/11

An updated version of the Canadian Anti-Doping Program (CADP) came into effect today. These rules govern how anti-doping is conducted in Canada and are administered by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) on behalf of the Canadian sport community.

Sport organizations and athletes should take note of the following changes:

• Rules that set the context for jurisdiction for anti-doping in Canada were incorporated into the CADP General Principles (Rules 1.0-1.3). These rules were formerly part of the federal government's Canadian Policy Against Doping in Sport.
• Roles and responsibilities of athletes or other persons, including athlete support personnel, were further defined (Rules 1.0-1.3, 1.7-1.8).

You can download the updated CADP Here.

Sport organizations are not required to re-adopt the CADP. The program's revision rules (1.28-1.30) allow changes to be made providing there is stakeholder consultation and substantial agreement. Previous advisory notes were released encouraging public feedback on the revisions to the CADP during the period of June 30 to September 7, 2010. The CCES thanks the sport community for its contributions.
