Ned's Atomic Dustbin October 1999
The final trail day for 1999 was a great success. We were blessed with sunny skies and approximately 40 hardworking people showed up to do some maintenance. Much of Ned's Atomic Dustbin was worked on and the upper portions of Corkscrew were also fixed up.
Special thanks go out to Jamie Myatt at the North Shore Caps Bicycles for providing food to the starving members, to Great Canadian Water for water and to Race Face, OGC, Cycling B.C., Norco, Caps, Cyclepath, John Henry, Steed, NS Sports Swap, On Top, and Singletrack Cycles for providing swag for the trail day.
We also got a major donation from EMP and received renewed memberships - much of this will go to buying more materials including signs and possibly a chainsaw
Until next year!
CBC Trail to be re-opened
The GVRD/ Seymour Demonstration Forest and Parks have tentatively agreed to allow the NSMBA to start work on a re-route of the CBC trail.
The old CBC line was in Park boundaries and was closed last year. This re-route will take the trail away from the Park boundaries. Should it be a success, there would be further talks on opening up further mountain biking trails that have been closed.

Congratulations to Marg Fedyna (ERTC) and Rafal Kuncewicz (Sports Shack Croakers), newly re-crowned as Provincial Cyclo-cross champions. Both riders have won this event for the third consecutive time. Fedyna and Kuncewicz won their respective categories at both the Saturday race in Canmore, and Sunday's championship event at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School. Other champions on Sunday included Guri Randhawa (Pedalhead) in Novice Men, and Clayton Paradis (Pedalhead) in Master Men.
The 30 riders turned up for Saturday's event in Canmore enjoyed excellent organization, beautiful weather, and a fine t-shirt. Thanks to Carl Moreau and Shawn Taylor for their efforts. Special thanks also to Steve McCarthy, Lori Verburgh, Jason Yanota, and the Cruickshank brothers, James and Stuart, for their efforts on Sunday. Over 50 riders competed in Sunday's event, including 20 in the Master Men category.
We are working on the 2000 calendar for Mountain Bike and Road and Track, and have heard from many organizers. Organizers (previous, current, or potential) interested in events for next season are encouraged to attend the Organizer's Seminar this Saturday at the Red Deer Lodge from 10:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This year we are hoping to do our best to coordinate the two calendars together. We are avoiding Provincial Championship conflicts for 2000. Please contact the office if you are planning to attend.
We have been receiving phone calls at the office with regard to next year's calendar. If all goes well this weekend, a Calendar will be available by the end of next week.
The Alberta Bicycle Association's 26th Annual General Meeting is coming up soon...Sunday November 7th. All members are welcome to attend!
