Report From Japan

Dominique Perras has sent in a report on his race at the Japan Cup (UCI 1.3).

The race was held on the 1990's world championship course, a really hard 15km loop with 3 climb (41x23 required), and also used to be a world cup. Besides, the crowd was just unbelievable, in the hundred of thousands....The race was controlled mainly by the Mercatone Uno and Polti teams, and eventually Sergio Barbero (Mercatone Uno) won over Mirko Celestino of Polti and Sebastien Demarbaix of Lotto/Mobistar. I was riding for Post Swiss team here, still as a stagiaire, and made it into the final selection of 12 man, but cracked with 20km to go and finished with Franck Perque of The Francaise des Jeux, 7th in the race. Now I'll spend a few days of holiday in Tokyo before heading to the island of Okinawa, where I'll compete in my last race of the year, a 200km road race (UCI 1.5), this time with the Canadian National team.
