April 10th Blizzard Road Race - Fort St John, BC

Stephen Ferris was a repeat winner in Sunday's 53 kilometre Montney Store road race, with a time of 1:42:47. Kevin Shaw was a half a wheel behind in a close sprint between the two riders. George Gamble was third at 1:46:58.

Jolea Bilodeau won the 25 kilometre event at 1:02:52. Hilda Bilodeau was second at 1:13:13 and Adam Currie third at 1:13:18.

Other times in the 53 k race were: Pat Ferris won the sprint for fourth from Richard Wood and Roger St. Jean at 1:50:39, Sam Keats edged out Barb Polehoykie for seventh at 1:57:23, Dan Webster 2:00:25, Bruce Jamieson 2:00:35, Gary Hilderman 2:09:42, Deryl Neufeld 2:21:57 and Les Elliott 2:30:18 after suffering two flat tires.

Other 25 kilometre rider times were Rachel Kalkman in fourth at 1:14:39, Davide Loro 1:18:00 and Theresa Martins 1:35:32.

Nineteen riders were on the start on a breezy but warm day. Stephen Ferris pushed the pace on the first hill of the day with only Kevin Shaw and Les Elliott able to keep up. Les suffered a double flat at the turn which left only Ferris and Shaw to sprint it out at the finish.

Next up: Sunday is the famous Rocky Road Race, the fastest, most difficult gravel road race in the Peace Country. It starts on the Fibreco road in Peace View, in Taylor at 2:00 pm.
