April 19/11 16:13 pm - Tuesday Night Road Rides in Kingston (ON)

J&J Cycle would like to announce Kingston’s Tuesday night race paced training rides. Held throughout the summer, these rides are aimed toward improving fitness and tactics in a friendly and constructive environment. The course will be a 45km total, 3 laps of a 15km loop in Kingston's west end. This loop will not be closed to traffic, so racers will need to obey the yellow line rule and all traffic laws while racing. All intersections are right-hand turns however, so no crossing traffic required.

If attendance numbers permit, organizers will divide the group based on ability level. Make sure to invite all your friends of similar ability, to ensure a competitive race for you! And please remember the goals are to build skills and fitness, so being ‘fast’ is not a prerequisite for coming. If you’re learning, you’re winning.

Ride nights are as follows, with a 6pm start:

• May 17 & 31
• June 14 &28
• July 12 & 26
• August 9 & 23

A road cycling clinic for those interested will be offered for those with less experience with an emphasis on the important points of group riding. This is highly encouraged! The clinic will be held Thursday May 12th and Sunday May 15th. Please email (slundy2009(at)dents.uwo.ca) if you are interested and J&J will send you more clinic details. Come expecting fun.

All UCI safety regulations will be followed, namely you must wear an approved helmet, and no handlebar extensions should be attached to the bicycle, unless there’s a massive quantity of triathletes forming their own draft-legal peloton.

If possible please email to J&J  know you are interested in taking part in these rides. There is no cost but they would like to have rider numbers or identification for timing, so if we have an idea of numbers that would really help preparation.

Why else should you attend? There will be random weekly prizes! To ensure safety for all riders, you must be a member of an OCA affiliated club to participate. If you aren’t already a member, please visit www.ontariocycling.org/clubs to find clubs in your area, or email and J&J can help you find a club.
