Blzzard Bike Club, Fort St. John, BC


Sunday July 10th
The Blizzard bike club members were busy everywhere but at home, this weekend.

Peter King raced the UCI Para Cycling World Cup Race in Baie-Comeau, Quebec, this past Sunday. He was 12th in the Men’s C4 road race.

Colter Young and Stephen Ferris were in Vancouver for the BC Superweek.  This event has 8 races in the lower mainland over the next 10 days. It is a Pro –Am event. First up was the Tour of Delta 3 Day. Colter Young 24th and 33rd in the Friday and Saturday criteriums and had a 26th place finish in Sunday’s road race. Stephen Ferris had a 52nd place finish in the Sunday Criterium. There were 90 riders. Next up is the UBC race, on Tuesday. The Burnaby Giro goes Thursday followed by the Tour of Whiterock. On the weekend.

Kevin Shaw was in Kelowna for the Merckx Grand Fondo event.

Locally, the Challenge Cup races were rained out and will reschedule again later in August when the rains stop.

Thursday July 7th  - Baldonnel time trial

Kevin Shaw won the Thursday night Baldonnel time trial with a 16 km time of 25:00 minutes. Pat Ferris was second at 25:57 and Irvin Tang third at 26:05. Sandy McDonald was 1 second back for 4th at 26:06 and Roger St. Jean 5th at 26:35.

George Gamble was 6th at 26:46, Richard Wood 27:10, Celeste Pakstas at 29:01, Sam Keats 29:05 and Davide Loro 30:05 for the nights’ top ten.

Owen Giebelhaus was 11th at 30:09, Richard Moody 31:04 Adam Currie 31:17 and Dave Menzies 31:45.

June 30th  -  TT and Nationals in Ontario etc.

Kevin Shaw won the Baldonnel time trial, Thursday night, with a time of 25:26 minutes. Irvin Tang was second at 25:47 and Sandy McDonald third at 27:07.

Roger St. Jean was 4th at 27:10., Richard Wood 5th.at 29:27

Celeste Pakstas 6th at 29:51, Sam Keats 31:03, Davide Loro 32:24, Dave Menzies 33:22, Ken Nix 35:00, Dee-ann Stickel 37:35 and Dian Loro 40:44.

Canada Day Criterium in Edmonton: 4. Colter Young

Great White North Triathlon

Local triathletes did well in this past Sunday`s Great White North Half Ironman triathlon, in Edmonton. 700 trialthetes from western Canada were there.

Darren Guliov did the 1.25 k swim, 56 k bike and 21 k run in 5:22:20 hours and 51st /of 123 in his age group.

Barb Polehoykie was 5:24:04 and 4th /43 in her age group, Sandy McDonald was 5:26:36 and 17th/93 in age group, Bob Andrews  was 5:37:05 and 30th/67 in age group.
