It is with great regret that Midweek Cycling Club would like to inform our members, potential racers, and the cycling community at large that we have withdrawn from hosting the 2012 National Road Race in Ontario. After coming off a successful event in Burlington this past summer and looking forward to repeating the fun and excitement generated in the region in 2012, we encountered circumstances that were beyond our control and as a result, our management team felt that we had to withdraw from hosting the event.
We would like to thank everyone who came out to compete and gave it their all. We would especially like to thank those whose contributions made this event happen, from our sponsors, to our highly dedicated volunteers, and everyone else who gave us their support and trust.
We realize that this is a great loss for Ontario as it's a huge develoment oportunity for many riders and for that, we apologize. Our only hope is that through successful planning and lobbying, that this wonderful event can return to our neck of the woods in the near future.
We would like to wish Francis Rancourt and the rest of the Grand Prix team the very best and hope their show will turn out as well as ours did. If it wasn't for some of the guidance they provided to us, the 2011 Nationals wouldn't have been as successful as they were.
