Simon Theriault, technical director of the mountain bike sector in Quebec, will step down at the end of 2011. After six years of service to the Quebec Cycling Federation (FQSC), he turns the page and begins a new chapter in his professional and personal life.

Beginning in mid-January, Theriault will officially begin a position in the department of recreation, sport and culture of the town of Forestville. This is also a homecoming for the native of the North Shore. The new dad will therefore be closer to his family, which is still there. It is also a return to the community that has given so much in the past.

"The municipal sphere is an environment known to offer a very large number of challenges. It is important to me to take this opportunity to give back to those who have started my journey," said Theriault.

It is with a sense of accomplishment he embarks on this new adventure. "I humbly believe I have helped to develop, in collaboration with the community, the form that mountain biking will become more or less long term. There is obviously more work to do, but I leave it to my colleagues to continue this work. They will certainly continue to advance the practice of cycling in the province," said Theriault.

"I want to thank from the depths of my heart, all those fans who have contributed to the development of this wonderful discipline that is mountain biking during my years at FQSC, and will continue to do so, I am sure," he said.

"I thank Simon for years he gave to FQSC. This kind of job is demanding and Simon has always given the best of himself, thus contributing to the development of mountain biking in Quebec, as well as the success of the FQSC in general. His departure creates a void, of course, so it is important that we try to fill as much as possible and as soon as possible," said general manager Louis Barbeau.

Those wishing to submit applications for this position will have until December 21st to do so. Note that the new coordinator will take office January 9th, after the holidays. Contact cbarbeau@fqsc.net for more details.
