Only two days after grabbing their first victory of the season, Team SpiderTech was back in action on Tuesday in Italy, racing the 2012 Giro Del Trentino, a four-day stage race.

The first stage of what promises to be one of the hardest four-day stage race in the world started off with a flat 14 kilometre team time trial. Team SpiderTech started fourth off and did a good job finishing tenth out of 17 teams, just 44 seconds behind the winning squad, BMC Racing Team.

The team's founder was on hand to watch, and was impressed with the result.

"We beat some good teams today and the guys rode aggressively. The pace line was a bit rough at times, but they went fast and with a little refinement and team time trial practice, we can improve a lot,” said Steve Bauer.

Brian Vandborg, Team SpiderTech’s newest acquisition, commented: “We did a good job with allocating responsibilities of who was to do what. Ryan (Anderson) and David (Boily) were the strongest today and definitely made a big contribution. The team did pretty good considering that this is only the second time we have done a team time trial. We are only going to get faster."

Tomorrow is a day for the climbers as Stage 2 features the Passo Redebus at 1,449 metres, which comes at the 121 kilometre mark. The finish line is also on an ascent to Santa Orsola, a climb of 12 kilometres long at an altitude of 945 meters.
