April 19/12 8:38 am - Nanaimo Cobblestone Classic Criterium

Mid Island Velo Association is pleased to announce the first edition of the Nanaimo Cobblestone Classic Criterium to be held on a challenging 1.7 kilometre circuit in downtown Nanaimo, British Columbia, on June 17th this year.

The event is sanctioned by Cycling BC and will consist of four races: Cat. 3/4 men, all Category women, a Junior event, and the showcase Pro/Am Cat. 1/2 race at 1.30 pm.

The Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association is the name sponsor for the first Cobblestone Classic. An intensive publicity campaign will go into high gear shortly to generate a large crowd. The spectators will be treated to the sight of large packs of riders speeding around the circuit at speeds of up to sixty kilometers an hour.

Riders must pre-enter the race by signing on at ccnbikes.com. Those who register by June 1st will get the early discount. Final cut-off for entries is June 10th.

The technical guide for the Nanaimo Cobblestone Classic Criterium will be available on-line by the end of this week.
