On Sunday, May 20th, Team CDC traveled to the Niagara region for the third stop in the Ontario Cup Road circuit. Held in Pelham, the race featured the infamous Saylors climb, which can and often does result in some very intense racing.

The team had five riders in the combined Junior/Senior 3 category: Martin Rupes, Nathan Jeffs, Gab Charlton, Adam Pugsley and new team member Stephen Welsh from Barrie, Ontario.

The team rode well together under some very intense heat and race conditions.  When Nathan Jeffs suffered a mechanical on lap two, Adam and Stephen dropped back to bring their teammate back into the field. But the effort cost them some energy leading into the climb.  On lap three the pressure came on and forced some splits in the field.

Nathan, Gab, Adam and Stephen continued to chase, however, near the end of the race decided to save their legs for another day.

Martin Rupes stayed in the front group and managed to grab the team's first podium of 2012 with a third place.

A day earlier, CDC cadet racer Cole Pugsley raced in the third annual Barrie Cycling Clubs youth cup road race, held in Oro Medonte, riding to a 13th place in the Time Trial and 15th place in the road race, learning some valuable lessons along the way.

The team would like to thank Centurion Cycling for their support and the Barrie Cycling Club for facilitating the team.
