In December 2004, Albert Coulier and I made a presentation to the property owner of the "Ice House" in London to see if an indoor Velodrome would be something that would be of interest to the Owner for the building (it was empty at the time).

In the presentation a cornerstone moment was when the owner asked what are your goals for the Facility.... without hesitating, both Albert and I responded "to produce athletes that would represent London, Ontario, and Canada at International competitions and ultimately the Olympic Games."

7 years later, Albert has passed on, however, his dream of sending one of our "Kids" to the Olympics has come true.

Joe Veloce (Fonhill, Ontario) was in our first class of youth riders (Velo-Kids) that learned how to ride the high banks of the FCV, before we officially opened. Today Joe V, was named to the 2012 Canadian Olympic Team. Joe will be racing in the Keirin, a motorpaced race that will see speeds in access of 74kph, during competition.

There will be more information to follow.... The FCV is proud of Joe's dedication to the Canadian Track program and his continued involvement with the Forest City Velodrome.

From all the members of the FCV.... giv'r Joe!!!!!
