Today is Individual Time Trial (ITT) day at Road Nationals in Lac Megantic, QC.
In the U23 and Elite men's field there are 63 entries and they will go off at 1 min intervals until the final 5 entries when the gap will increase to 2 min. The men will start at 1:01 pm ET and they will do 39 km 3 laps (1=out and back) of 6.5 km. Start list with times
The road is a brand new bypass recently build,..3 and 4 lanes of newly paved surface that will be completely closed to all traffic.
There is a strong tail/cross wind on the way out and the climb is small enough that the Elite men will be "big ringing" it.
It is going to be a HOT day!!!
We will do our BEST to do updates, but Rob will be out on course doing photos and cell coverage is spotty.
Canadian Cycling is announcing the Road team for the London Olympics at 1:30 pm, so that too will prevent much in the way of coverage for the first hour of racing.
Hopefully Twitter won't collapse like it did this morning, so check there and here for updates which will be posted as soon as we can.
Press conference over so now we can get back to RACING
The wind has died down and the temp is 31C
The 2nd wave should be all on the road now and we will try to get an update on who has the best time so far
