The new Canada Cup BMX starts in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, QC cycling+canada

Connor McCormack and Amelia Walsh took top honours at the first event in the new Canada Cup BMX series, held in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, near Québec City.

McCormack, riding with Cycling BC, easily won the Men’s Elite category, winning all three motos to reap maximum points. Michel Beaudoin of BMX Cap de la Madelaine finished second, while Vincent Gingras of BMX Pointe du Lac was third.

In the Women’s Elite competition, Amelia Walsh of Team Ontario swept all three motos. Sarah Biron of BMX Pointe du Lac took second spot, followed by Amanda Landers of Cycling BC.

A total of 34 riders took part in the first race of this brand new Canadian cycling series. The second race of the series will be held Sunday, also in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures.
