Plastiglas XC Ontario Cup Round #6 August 12th - An Exciting and Challenging Course in the Heart of Muskoka

Once again, the Plastiglas Ontario Cup Series returns to the Buckwallow Cycling Center in the heart of Muskoka to challenge riders with its unique and rocky terrain.

A perennial favorite, Southern Ontario mountain bikers can look forward to one weekend every summer spent tackling the rocky and root strewn terrain that Buckwallow has become known for. Although lacking significant elevation change, these technical trails more than make up for it with fun, flowing singletrack, unique rock formations, and the charms of Muskoka cottage country.  Pre-registration closes August 9th at 11:59pm and day of registration is available on-site. Racers are invited to pre-ride the course Friday August 10th all day and Saturday August 11th after 1pm. To participate, racers will need a licence or a one-day permit for Sport, Youth and Beginner Categories.

Buckwallow Cycling Center is the sixth stop on the 2012 Plastiglas Ontario Cup circuit. The course at Buckwallow is unlike anything else southern Ontario has to offer. Widely considered the most technically challenging course, Buckwallow is also one of the most fun race courses on the racing calendar. As always, the crew at Chico Racing works hard to ensure that the course can accommodate all skill and experience levels and this year will be no exception.  Please note, on Saturday, August 11th pre-riding will not open until 12 pm as Chico Racing is also hosting a 6 and 12 km Tread Trail Running Race.

Entering in to the 6th round of the Plastiglas Ontario Cup Series it's the young guns leading the way! Steven Noble (Opus/OGC) has a slim lead over Mitchell Bailey (Trek Canada) in the Elite Men’s division, while Cayley Brooks (Trek Canada) sits atop the Elite Women’s field. With Buckwallow being the last race in the Plastiglas Series before the Provincial Championships in September, many racers will be looking the make their mark and solidify their place in the overall standings. With so much competition on the starting line, look for the racing to be hotter than a Muskoka summer this coming weekend.
