November 12/12 10:44 am - Durham Cyclocross Classic Returns for Twelfth Year (Ontario)

On Sunday, November 18th, the 12th annual Durham Cyclocross Classic will be taking place at Heber Down Conservation Area in Whitby, Ontario.  The Durham Cyclocross Classic is the longest, continuous running event in the Southern Ontario Cyclocross series.

“The event has continued to grow each year and draws participants with all levels of skill and experience,” says Dan Salter, Event Promoter. “It's a great atmosphere, with great sponsors and a unique course that requires the rider’s attention throughout.”

The course used during the past three years has been updated and improved with sections of gravel, asphalt, grass, wood chip and sand.  On each lap riders will be required to climb out of a valley followed shortly by a similar descent.

Event Highlights:

• Minimum of $800 in Cash and $1000 in Prizes and Draws
• Challenging Course with Natural Barriers and Climbing
• Categories for All Levels & Ages

• Only 35 minutes East of Toronto
• Donation to the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority and local cycling projects
• One-day licenses and series permits will be available at this event

About the Durham Cyclocross Classic
The Durham Cyclocross Classic was resurrected by Dan Salter in 2001 based on 'Cross events that took place in the 1980’s in Heber Down.  Dan’s goal is to introduce newcomers to the fun, adventure and personalities involved with cyclocross racing.
