Marie Pierre Nadon and Will Elliott, currently coached by Horseshoe Valley-based Earth Adrenalin Ltd., will join Team CHCH for the 2013 road racing season. Nadon previously raced with Team CHCH at Rimouski and the Provincial Road Championships earlier this year. Nadon will race with the team in 2013 at the National Road Championships, GP Rimouski and the Tour of Rimouski.

“It’s about giving young riders the opportunity to try other disciplines in cycling,” said NCCH head coach Rick Lee. “One size does not fit all, there are so many events in cycling and some suit one rider better than the other.”

Both riders will continue racing for their team on the MTB circuit as well as riding the road calendar for Team CHCH.
“Athletes begin their development in the Team Hardwood/Trek MTB Development Program with regular weekly training and racing at Hardwood Ski and Bike sponsored by The Trek Store,” noted Kevin Simms Earth of Adrenalin Ltd.
Athletes in this program range from age 9 through to age 15 and, although the majority of experiences are in a MTB setting, athletes are getting experience on two wheels and many skills transcend to other disciplines, including Road/CX and BMX. Simms sees many athletes graduate from the development program and start training with specific MTB or Road teams throughout Ontario.
"This collaboration has been great for all concerned; sharing resources and ideas to best develop our Ontario riders,” said Lee. Adam Jamieson is another example of past collaborative efforts between the two organizations. Jamieson attended a track camp in Bromont, Quebec and leveraged his mountain bike skills and agility to garner a silver medal in the Junior Individual Pursuit and gold on the Teams Pursuit at the National Track Championships this summer. The same can be said for Martin Rupes of Toronto, who made the transition from mountain bike to the track winning the National Track Point Score Championship and Team Pursuit.
Earth Adrenalin Ltd. looks after a number of high performance athletes who are training for World MTB Championship events. Simms sees NCCH as a perfect alliance for many of their athletes as they continue development. “NCCH offers a fantastic support structure for athletes during the preparation phase and the racing season,” Simms says. NCCH holds off-season training camps, pre-race tune up sessions and specific skill development days.
“The road projects offered by NCCH have been great exposure for athletes looking to identify strengths in their physiology and continue enjoying the sport of cycling.”
The Centre welcomes the opportunity for clubs and individual riders to work together and utilize the services and facilities of NCCH.
