December 21/12 11:34 am - Canadian Cyclist Gift Guide - Day 11

Posted by Editoress on 12/21/12

Since we have survived the Mayan Apocalypse (you weren't really worried, were you?), we will continue with Day 11 of the Canadian Cyclist Christmas Gift Guide.  In the spirit of a new start for the new year (and a new Mayan calendar cycle...), we are going to suggest a refresh for your recipient's favourite ride.

New cables, new tape (or grips), new tires, one of the many excellent cleaning products specifically designed for bikes, even a certificate for a complete overhaul at their favourite shop ... there are lots of opportunities here.

It is amazing what a difference a clean, freshly tuned bike makes - that is one of the reasons that pro teams have the mechanics clean, inspect and replace anything worn or damaged after every race.

January is a really good time to have your local bike shop (LBS) undertake an overall; they usually aren't as busy as when it gets to March or April, and they often have packages for this sort of service.  Talk with them and put together either a bike care package (if your giftee likes doing the work themselves), or a nice certificate for service at the shop.
