March 8/13 18:17 pm - Blizzard Bike Club News: Roubaix Cup race, Sunday

Posted by Editoress on 03/8/13

Sunday is race #1 of the tough and nasty ‘Roubaix Cup’ (ROO-bay) gravel, snow and ice series. Started way back in 1996, this winter series favours brave bike handlers with good cold weather circulation. Conditions can be anywhere from plus ten and dry loose gravel to minus 25, snow and ice and everything in between.

Pat Ferris has won five times over the years and is the defending trophy winner from 2011 and 2012 with Bob Andrews and Gary Hilderman also past winners. Irvin Tang has been very fast as is Kevin Shaw and George Gamble.

Weather has always been a factor, warm, dry, wet or in the deep snow.

All three of these races start at the Baldonnel School at 2 pm, but have three distinct routes.

Race time is 2 pm from the Baldonnel School.
