Track World Cup #2 - Cali, Columbia

Kyle Hudson sent us this report late last night.

Just a brief update on the Canadian gang here in Cali, Columbia for the track World cup.

Friday, saw both men and women sprint qualifying Lori-Ann Muenzer qualified 4th for the women, sorry no times. For the men, Doug Baron qualified 17th but was ousted in the first round buy Florian Rousseau of France. Lars Madsen unfortunately did not qualify. To the point that I left the track this evening Lori-Ann had just lost in the semi-finals and and would ride for the bronze. Update on that to come!

Friday evening in the men's Kilo, Doug rode a 1:04.8, good for 11th place and a personal best by more than half a second. Jim Fisher also rode a Kilo out-of-competition, his time 1:04.4, would have been good for 7th place, also a personal best by more than a second!

Saturday morning Mandy Poitras competed in the women's 3000m pursuit, riding to also a personal best time of 3min 47sec, good for 10th place.

Today I will finally get onto the track for the Keirin event, Lars, Doug and Jim will compete in the Olympic sprint, Lori-Ann in the 500m and Mandy in the points race.

That's the low-down so far, hope everyone is well, final update to come...

Buenos noches!

Mandy Poitras reports that Michelle Ferris (Australia) has quite sick, which would clearly explain her disappointing results as her performance was clearly not was she is normally capable of.
