On September 7th, the region of Mont-Tremblant will host a new cyclosportive, a mass participation cycling event formula that has been established for decades on the international scene and is now gaining popularity across Canada. The first edition of the Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant will take place on two courses that are accessible to all; on roads that hug rivers, fields and farms, through forests and mountains; offering a unique opportunity to discover Mont-Tremblant’s road cycling network.

Gran Fondo means "big ride" in Italian. It stands for escape, challenge and performance and is especially popular in Europe, the United States and now in Canada. For this first edition, the organizers are offering two routes: the Medio Fondo at 80 kilometres and the Gran Fondo, a 125 kilometre distance. The Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant will be a real cycling celebration, where riders meet in a non-competitive environment to take on a personal challenge and share the pleasure of cycling on a first class course. Participants will enjoy a well organized event that meets the high standards of Tremblant events. In order to celebrate this event, registration includes a vest in the event colors and freebies all weekend; starting with the Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant 'Prologue' on Friday evening at the Tremblant's 24h of cycling site, an opportunity for all participants to meet.

During this ride, cyclists will be provided with police protection and supervision throughout. From the start line, cyclists will travel the Montée Ryan, a symbolic route in the region, to discover the valleys and landscapes of Brébeuf and St. Rémi d'Amherst through to Route 364 - Rockway Valley, which promises an outstanding cycling surface. They will receive the support and cheers of encouragement from the business owners on the main street of downtown Mont-Tremblant. Participants in the 125 km ride will continue on their journey to Val-des-Lacs and Lake Superior before arriving at the finish line in the Tremblant pedestrian village.

Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant will engage approximately 75 volunteers. Spouses or friends who are not registered for the Gran Fondo Mont-Tremblant can volunteer to help the organization of this great cycling event.
