Report From Spain

I am finally back online (sort of) after the nightmares of trying to contact to the internet from a ski resort in Spain! The reports will be "fleshed out" later (when internet access is fully worked out), but for now, here is a brief update on news (below), and our first report from the World Championships.

The site, at the ski resort of Sierra Nevada, just outside Granada, is absolutely beautiful. The weather is also just about perfect, as we get ready for the start of the Team Relay - around 25 Celcius, sunny, slight breeze and very dry. The teams will do 4 laps, and Canada has to be considered a favourite, with the team of Roland Green (Elite Man), Ryder Hesjedal (Espoir Man), Jamie Douglas (Junior Man) and Alison Sydor (Elite Woman). However, Spain - last year's champions are also strong (with Marga Fullana and Jose Hermida), and Australia has Cadel Evans and Mary Grigson.

For those who are unfamiliar with the event, it is a relay race with each team having one rider from each category (Elite Men and Women, Espoir Men and Junior Men) doing a lap. The teams pass an arm band in the changeover zone, and can pick any order they wish to send riders off in.

The start is in 90 minutes, and since it is a short circuit, we won't report back until the finish.
