A brief report on Team Canada woes in yesterday's stage, from manager Jacques Landry:
"Bottom line, Sylvain Beauchamp who was 2nd overall after the first stage broke his chain and could not get properly serviced in time to rejoin the group, so he's out of contention. Paul Kelly who helped Sylvain in his misfortune had to stop later on because of stomach pains before rejoining the the race, but in the last group.
As for Peter Wedge, a second flat of the day at 2 kms from the finish made him lose 1 minute on the main field.
Eric Wohlberg and Andrew Randell were the only two to finish in the main group of 46.
To add to the bad luck, our Canadian team van broke down and is in the shop for repairs!!!
All in all, not a good day for the Canadian squad!!!"
We have also learned that Eric Wohlberg has had to quit the race for family reasons, and will not start today.
We will be providing live coverage for Beauce starting tomorrow with the crucial Mont Megantic stage.
