Rasputitsa is Russian for the mud season when roads become difficult to traverse. The 1st Annual Rasputitsa Spring Classic will be held on April 19th, starting at 9 AM EST at Main Street in Newport, VT.

This 47 mile (31 miles of gravel) road race travels some of Vermont's coldest and barren landscapes. Register for $40 online at: www.bikereg.com/rasputitsa. $40 includes a meal ticket for a post-race celebration. Beer and cocktails will be available for purchase. ONLY 150 SPOTS LEFT! Register for both the Rasputitsa and sister-race, The Dirty 40 (August 30, 2014) and save $20.

This is a non-sanctioned, mass start, timed event that welcomes all bicycles from road, mountain, and fatbikes to tandem and single-speed. Neutral Support will be on course but spare tubes, etc. are the responsibility of the racer. There will be one feedzone sponsored by Clif Bar and free waterbottles will be passed for those needing H20.

Categories are Men's Open, Women's Open, Men's 40+ and Single Speed. Winners will be awarded a trophy on the podium for bragging rights only. No prize purse.

Route can be previewed: www.strava.com/routes/60220.

A full rider bible will be distributed two weeks prior to the event.

The event raises money for the Mary E. Wright Halo Foundation, a local charity that gifts money to families struggling with the cost of cancer.
